Wike-led PDP Faction Inaugurates New Executives in Sokoto

The Wike-led faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto conducted an emergency state congress where new executives were inaugurated. Barrister Fatima Hassan Attahiru supervised the event, which was held at the party's national headquarters and represented by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The congress announced the dissolution of the state’s caretaker committee and the election of new executives, including Hayatu Tafida as chairman, Maryam Muhammad Kand as vice chairman, and Ahmad S. Fawa as secretary.

Other notable appointments included Hadiza Abubakar as women leader and Bello Bashar as treasurer. Tafida took an oath of office, pledging to work tirelessly for the party's growth and unity.

Umar Batur, the party's organizational secretary, called on members who defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to return to the PDP and warned individuals claiming to be party leaders in Sokoto to cease their actions. Batur emphasized that the faction is focused on strengthening the party's structure in preparation for future elections.
