Sokoto State Government Supports ICAN Membership Growth

The Sokoto State Government has committed to enhancing the accounting profession by encouraging more indigenes to join the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). This pledge was made by Deputy Accountant-General Alhaji Junaidu Usman on Saturday in Sokoto, following his receipt of an Award of Excellence during the investiture of the new executive committee of ICAN Sokoto and District Society, where Mr Oluwakayode Adeboye was inaugurated as the seventh Chairman.

Usman stated that Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration is dedicated to developing skilled professionals to improve public financial management. He emphasized the critical role of professional accountants in promoting transparency and accountability.

Usman also noted that the Award of Excellence serves as motivation for continued integrity in public resource management. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Mrs Queensley Sofuratu, the 62nd President of ICAN, and Alhaji Abdulkadir Farid from Zenith Bank Plc, who expressed confidence in the new committee's ability to advance the institute's objectives.
