Sokoto State Government Supports ICAN Membership Growth

The Sokoto State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the accounting profession by supporting more indigenes to become members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). This pledge was made by the Deputy Accountant-General of the state, Alhaji Junaidu Usman, on Saturday in Sokoto after he received an Award of Excellence during the investiture of the new executive committee of the ICAN Sokoto and District Society.

Mr Oluwakayode Adeboye was inaugurated as the seventh Chairman of the society, along with other executive members who will serve for one year. Usman stated that Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration is dedicated to developing skilled professionals to improve public financial management.

He highlighted the critical role of professional accountants in promoting transparency and accountability. The event also featured remarks from Mrs Queensley Sofuratu, the 62nd President of ICAN, and Alhaji Abdulkadir Farid from Zenith Bank Plc, both expressing confidence in the new committee's ability to advance the institute's objectives.
