Soldiers Arrest Arms Dealer, Recover 1,000 Rounds in Zamfara

On June 5, 2023, soldiers from the Troop Joint Task Force North West arrested a suspected arms dealer, Mustapha Abubakar, aged 42, during an operation in Zamfara State. The operation, conducted under the command of Lt.

Col. Aliyu Danja, led to the recovery of 1,000 rounds of ammunition concealed inside a sack of millet.

The troops intercepted a vehicle traveling towards Shinkafi LGA, which prompted a search that uncovered the ammunition and a local fabric pistol magazine. Preliminary investigations suggest that Abubakar was involved in the illegal movement of arms and ammunition for terrorist operations in the region.

He has been taken into custody for further investigation. Additionally, on June 3, military troops in Kaduna State thwarted a cattle rustling attempt in Chikun LGA, responding to a distress call from herders whose cattle had been stolen.

The military's ongoing operations aim to disrupt criminal networks in the North West region.
