DSS Arrests Arms Courier, Recovers Weapons in Kano

On Thursday, the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested Abubakar Muhammad, identified as a notorious arms courier, in the Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State. The arrest was made following intelligence indicating that Muhammad was in transit to deliver a cache of weapons believed to be destined for a bandit kingpin, Saidu Marafa, who is active in Zamfara State.

During the operation, the DSS recovered three AK-47 rifles, four RPG tubes, and two empty magazines. This operation is a direct result of intelligence generated by the DSS, which enabled them to track Muhammad's movements and mobilize an operation to intercept the weapons before they could reach their intended destination.

The latest arrest is part of a series of successful operations by the DSS, demonstrating their capability to infiltrate criminal networks and disrupt arms supply routes, thereby weakening the structure sustaining banditry and armed violence across the country. Forensic evaluations are ongoing, with potential prosecution anticipated.
