Troops Arrest Arms Courier, Recover Ammunition in Zamfara

On June 5, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force in North West Nigeria achieved significant operational success by arresting a suspect identified as Mustapha Abubakar, a 42-year-old believed to be involved in the illegal movement of arms and ammunition for terrorist operations in the region. The arrest occurred during a thorough search of a civilian vehicle traveling towards Shinkafi Local Government Area in Zamfara State.

The troops recovered a local fabric pistol magazine and 1,000 rounds of ammunition concealed in a sack containing millet. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, who made the information available to newsmen, stated that the suspect was immediately taken into custody along with the recovered exhibits for further investigation.

Preliminary findings indicated that Abubakar was en route to deliver the items to accomplices, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected criminal network.
