Soldiers Arrest Suspects, Recover Firearms in Kaduna, Abia

On May 8, 2026, soldiers from the Nigerian Army's 2 Battalion, deployed at the forward operational base in Dogon Dawa, arrested 32-year-old Ibrahim Adamu during a roadblock operation in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The arrest yielded an AK-47 magazine, three mobile phones, and Indian hemp.

Preliminary examinations of the mobile phones revealed incriminating photographs showing individuals in military camouflage and carrying machine guns. The recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation.

Additionally, on May 9, 2026, troops from the 14 Brigade in Abia State responded to a distress call in Umuorieh village, leading to the arrest of 22-year-old Ifeanyi Ezebuiro for allegedly possessing a foreign-made Ruger pistol, which he claimed belonged to his late father. The firearms remain in custody pending further investigation.
