Military Accused of Abandoning Plateau Village During Attack

On April 9, a woman survivor from Mbwell village in Plateau State accused the Nigerian military of abandoning her community during a deadly attack by suspected Fulani militia. The assault lasted two hours, during which the military, stationed less than three kilometers away, failed to respond to distress calls.

The survivor reported that the attackers, who shouted "Allah Akbar," moved from house to house, killing indiscriminately and destroying property. She lost eight family members, including her brother, his pregnant wife, and a young nephew.

The attack left 20 people dead and caused widespread panic, displacing families. Despite repeated calls for help, the military did not intervene, leading to outrage among community members who are now calling for an independent investigation into the military's negligence.

The survivor expressed her distress over the military's inaction, noting that they were present but did not assist during the attack.
