Nigerian Troops Kill 216 Terrorists, Rescue 188 Victims

In April 2026, the Nigerian Armed Forces achieved significant success in military operations across the country, as disclosed by Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj Gen Michael Onoja, during a briefing in Abuja. Troops killed 216 terrorists and arrested 284 suspects, including key ring leaders and logistic collaborators.

Notably, 188 kidnap victims were rescued, comprising women, children, and elderly individuals. The operations, which included various military engagements, resulted in the neutralization of 200 terrorists and the dismantling of several terrorist camps and criminal hideouts.

In the North East, troops killed 136 terrorists and arrested 144 suspects, rescuing 18 victims. The North West operations neutralized 24 terrorists and rescued 70 victims, while the North Central region saw 21 terrorists killed.

The South South and South East operations also contributed to the overall success, with significant arrests and rescues. Maj Gen Onoja emphasized the importance of these outcomes in restoring communities and ensuring the safety of Nigerian citizens.
