Nigerian Troops Achieve Major Gains Against Terrorism

From April 10 to April 16, 2026, Nigerian troops conducted coordinated military operations across various theaters, resulting in significant gains against terrorist groups, including Boko Haram and ISWAP. Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, reported that troops arrested numerous suspects, rescued kidnap victims, and seized arms and logistics.

Notable operations included the arrest of a long-time fuel supplier to terrorists in Borno State and the interception of a truck carrying concealed medical supplies in Yobe State. Additionally, three informants were apprehended in Adamawa, and operations in Bauchi, Plateau, and Taraba led to the dismantling of terrorist camps and the arrest of a notorious kingpin and his wife.

In the North West, troops disrupted terrorist movements in Zamfara and apprehended suspects linked to past attacks in Kaduna. Chief of Defence Staff General Olatunbosun Olufemi Oluyed commended the troops for their professionalism and urged them to maintain operational momentum to ensure the safety and protection of lives and property.
