Nigerian Troops Kill Three Terrorists in Sokoto Operation

On a recent operation in Sokoto State's Kadam Forest, Nigerian Army troops from the 8 Division, under the command of Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, engaged in a fierce firefight with suspected terrorists, resulting in the death of three individuals. The operation was launched following credible intelligence indicating that approximately 100 terrorists were gathering in the forest to coordinate attacks and kidnappings in surrounding communities.

The troops made contact with the terrorists around noon, leading to an intense firefight as the terrorists attempted to flank the troops. The Nigerian Army confirmed that the troops maintained tactical dominance throughout the engagement, resulting in the neutralization of the threat.

In addition to the three confirmed kills, the troops recovered a cache of weapons, including one PKT machine gun, two AK-47 rifles, and various ammunition. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist activities in the northwest region, particularly in areas bordering Tangaza, Gudu, and Illela Local Government Areas, where attacks by armed groups have increased in recent months.
