Nigerian Troops Engage Bandits in Zamfara State, Soldiers Killed in Fierce Confrontation

Nigerian soldiers confronted bandits in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, leading to casualties on both sides. Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 8 Division Nigerian Army Sector 2 Operation Fasnan Yamma, confirmed the incident.

The troops, supported by the Nigerian Air Force, intercepted about 100 bandits planning a large-scale attack. A fierce firefight ensued, resulting in the elimination of some bandits while others fled with gunshot wounds.

The camp was set ablaze as the troops withdrew. Osoba mentioned that some soldiers paid the ultimate price during the combat, with vehicles hit by rocket-propelled grenades catching fire.

The Nigerian Army honored the fallen soldiers and reiterated its commitment to combat efficiency. The operation was part of a broader effort to dismantle bandit networks and disrupt supply chains in the region.
