Three Soldiers Killed, 45 Bandits Neutralized in Katsina

On Friday, a confrontation between Nigerian Army troops and bandits in Katsina State resulted in the deaths of three soldiers, including a captain. The troops successfully neutralized 45 bandits during the fierce gun battle in the Danmusa Local Government Area.

This operation followed credible intelligence regarding bandit activities, as stated by Nasir Mua Zu, the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs. The clash was linked to an earlier attack by bandits on Alhazawa Village in the Musawa Local Government Area on March 5, where cattle were reportedly rustled.

Despite the successful operation, the Nigerian Army faced casualties among its ranks. Among the deceased bandits was Alti, a nephew of a notorious bandit leader, Adamu Alieru.

The Katsina State government commended the bravery of the soldiers involved and extended condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, assuring residents that security agencies would continue to pursue criminal elements in the state.
