Soldiers Kill 24 Insurgents in Yobe State Attack

On April 23, 2023, soldiers from the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled a terrorist attack in Kukareta, Yobe State. The attack began shortly after midnight and lasted for three hours.

The troops executed a coordinated response, inflicting heavy casualties on the insurgents, with 24 terrorists neutralized during the engagement. The operation also resulted in the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition, including 18 AK-47 rifles, three general-purpose machine guns, two anti-aircraft guns, three RPG tubes, two mortar tubes, and four hand grenades.

Additionally, 18 AK-47 magazines and a large quantity of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered. Two soldiers were wounded during the action, and an armored tank was damaged due to a blown tire.

The operation underscored the troops' resilience and combat readiness, continuing to exert pressure on insurgents in the region.
