Troops Kill 24 Insurgents in Yobe Terror Attack Repel

On Wednesday, troops from the Joint Task Force North East successfully repelled a coordinated terror attack in Kukareta, Yobe State. The assault began shortly after midnight and lasted for three hours.

During the engagement, the troops inflicted heavy casualties on the attackers, neutralizing at least 24 insurgents. According to Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the spokesperson for the task force, the troops responded swiftly and employed coordinated strategies to contain the assault, leading to a chaotic retreat by the insurgents.

In addition to the casualties, the troops recovered a substantial cache of weapons, including 18 AK-47 rifles, three general-purpose machine guns, two anti-aircraft guns, three rocket-propelled grenade launchers, two mortar tubes, and four hand grenades, along with a large quantity of ammunition. Two personnel were wounded during the action, and an armored tank was deployed as reinforcements, sustaining damage due to a blown tire during the encounter.
