Troops Repel Terrorist Attack, Rescue Abductees in Sokoto

On June 21 and 22, 2023, troops from the Troop Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, successfully repelled a terrorist attack and rescued abductees in Sokoto and Katsina states. The operation began when Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja disclosed that troops engaged a criminal force attempting to infiltrate Tureta Town, Sokoto State, based on credible intelligence.

The terrorists abandoned their mission and fled after encountering superior firepower. Following a hot pursuit, troops rescued abductees and recovered stolen cattle, two motorcycles, and weapons.

In a separate operation on June 22, troops conducted an intelligence-led raid on a terrorist enclave in Matazu Local Government Area, Katsina State, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and three motorcycles. These operations reflect the determination of the troops to combat terrorism and restore security in the region.
