Troops Rescue 27 Kidnap Victims in Sokoto Operations

Between July 20 and 21, 2023, troops from the Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, conducted operations in Sokoto State, rescuing 27 kidnap victims. On July 20, acting on credible intelligence, troops engaged terrorists in Wanke and Kaura communities of Shagari Local Government Area, rescuing six victims and recovering livestock and two motorcycles.

In a separate operation on the same day, troops in Gandi, Rabah Local Government Area, collaborated with the State Security Community Guard Corps to rescue 10 victims found wandering in the bush around Badanma community. On July 21, troops of Combat Team 12 responded to a distress call regarding terrorists blocking the Gummi–Sokoto road, rescuing 11 kidnapped individuals and recovering one motorcycle.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja commended the troops for their professionalism and urged public vigilance in supporting ongoing operations against terrorist activities in the region.
