Soludo Appoints Dr. Maureen Umeakuewulu as CMD

Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has appointed Dr.

Maureen Umeakuewulu as the new Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, effective immediately, as announced in a statement by the governor's press secretary, Christian Aburim. Dr.

Umeakuewulu is a distinguished Nigerian physician and a senior consultant obstetrician and gynecologist with a special focus on gynecologic oncology and women's health, having served at the National Hospital Abuja. She has made significant contributions to healthcare delivery in Nigeria and is a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.

Umeakuewulu is involved in research and public advocacy concerning cervical cancer prevention and the human papillomavirus vaccine. She has played a leadership role within the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria and has served as president of the Federal Capital Territory chapter, advocating for increased awareness and access to screening and treatment for diseases affecting women, including breast and cervical cancer.
