Nigerian Army Forces Militant Surrender in South-East

The Nigerian Army reported that ongoing military operations in the South-East have compelled members of a militant group to surrender their arms. Troops from the 82 Division/Joint Task Force South East, under Operation UDO KA, achieved this breakthrough alongside the recovery of additional weapons and an improvised explosive device during intelligence-led operations.

The Army stated that these developments indicate a degradation of the operational capacity of criminal groups in the region, which has faced security challenges, including attacks on security personnel and civilians. The recent successes were attributed to sustained pressure from the 34 Artillery Brigade and the arrest of suspects linked to the killing of a soldier.

The Army recovered one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, 54 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, and four locally fabricated firearms from a hideout. In a separate operation, troops intercepted more weapons and explosives based on credible intelligence.
