South-East 'Reclaimed from Criminals' as Sit-at-Home Ends, Joe Igbokwe Celebrates

Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the Progress Congress, expressed joy over the end of the sit-at-home order in the South-East region, stating that the area has been "reclaimed from criminals." He condemned alleged IPOB members in Onitsha as foolish adults and fraudsters. Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, ordered the total cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home across the South-East, effective from February 9, 2026.

This decision follows the group's declaration of the sit-at-home in August 2021 to protest Kanu's arrest and subsequent incarceration. Schools, markets, banks, and offices had remained closed during the sit-at-home orders.
