IPOB Ends Monday Sit-at-Home Order in South-East Nigeria

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), through its spokesperson Emma Powerful, announced the immediate and permanent cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home directive across South-East Nigeria, effective February 9, 2026. The decision, made by IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, aims to enable residents to return to schools, businesses, and other activities without concerns of coercion or threats.

Kanu emphasized the need for normalcy and cautioned against any enforcement of the sit-at-home order, warning individuals or groups acting contrary to his directive. The statement also highlighted the group's commitment to the Biafran cause and urged the public to remain calm and vigilant.

IPOB further cautioned state governments against disrupting economic activities, threatening business closures, or intimidating traders. Residents were encouraged to resume their daily routines and children to attend school, marking the end of the era of Monday sit-at-home protests in the region.
