IPOB Ends Sit-at-Home Order in Nigeria's South East, Urges Residents to Resume Normal Activities

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has officially declared an end to the sit-at-home order in Nigeria's South East region. The announcement was made by IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful, following directives from the group's leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The decision to cancel the sit-at-home order, which had been in effect on Mondays, was aimed at ensuring that children return to school and people resume their daily activities without fear of intimidation. The cancellation was emphasized to be permanent, effective from Monday, February 9, 2026.

Additionally, Simon Ekpa, who led the Biafra Liberation Army, declared the end of the sit-at-home order in a video circulated on Facebook. Residents were urged to resume normal activities and go about their daily routines without any restrictions.

The move signifies a shift in IPOB's strategy and a call for normalcy in the region.
