Southeast Lawmakers Appeal to Tinubu for Kanu's Pardon

Southeast lawmakers are urging Bola Tinubu to use his constitutional power to grant a presidential pardon to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, following his life imprisonment sentence by a Federal High Court in Abuja. The lawmakers cited reasons such as heightened insecurity, economic hardships, and the need for dialogue to address the situation.

They emphasized the importance of a political solution to heal divisions and promote peace in the region. A total of 42 lawmakers signed the joint statement appealing for Kanu's release.
