Deputy Speaker Kalu Supports Creation of Anioma State

Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has reaffirmed his support for the creation of a proposed 'Anioma' State in Nigeria's South-East. Kalu emphasized the importance of unifying interests and fostering harmony among stakeholders during his address.

He suggested merging existing proposals for Anioma and Anim states into a single entity to strengthen the push for state creation in the region. Kalu highlighted the necessity of broad consultations involving governors and stakeholders from both the South-East and South-South regions, noting that success in this endeavor would require compromise and collective interest.

He outlined that the location of the proposed state capital should be determined through democratic consensus among stakeholders. The advocacy for Anioma State is also led by Senator Ned Nwoko, who recently visited to express appreciation for Kalu's support.

Traditional leaders and community representatives, including Henri Kikachukwu and RCD Nwadavid, have reiterated the long-standing demand for the creation of Anioma State, reflecting the desire for full cultural and political identification within the Igbo ethnic group.
