South-south ADC Leaders Back Amaechi for 2027 Presidency

Leaders of the South-south chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have endorsed former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi's presidential bid for the 2027 elections. This endorsement was disclosed by Chief John Odigi Oyegun, a prominent ADC chieftain and former governor of Edo State, during a consultative meeting held in Benin City.

Amaechi took the opportunity to inform the regional leaders of his intention to contest for the presidency in 2027. The leaders expressed their unanimous decision to support Amaechi, highlighting the importance of pursuing the presidency from the South-south region.

Odigi Oyegun emphasized that the ADC would support whoever emerges as the party's candidate, allowing for the completion of an eight-year term and a return of power to the North. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the presidential and national assembly elections for Saturday, January 16, 2027, while governorship and state house assembly elections are set for Saturday, February 6, 2027.
