North-East Governors Warn of Impending Flood Disaster

Governors in the North-East region of Nigeria raise concerns over the looming threat of floods due to heavy rainfall and swollen rivers. The North-East Governors Forum (NEGF) warns of potential disasters that could displace communities and damage critical infrastructure.

Urgent action is sought from the Federal Government and the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) to prevent a repeat of previous flood-related losses. The governors emphasize the need for swift reconstruction of bridges and infrastructure, as well as increased sensitization efforts to prepare settlers for potential flooding risks.

Despite progress in combating insurgency, the region still faces significant humanitarian and infrastructural challenges.
