Southern ADC Leaders Reject Amaechi's Endorsement Claims

Leaders of the Southern chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) convened in Benin City, Edo State, where they denied endorsing Rotimi Amaechi for the presidential race. The meeting, led by Odigi Oyegun, aimed to strengthen internal cohesion and grassroots mobilization within the party.

Mabel Oboh, the South South Zonal Public Secretary, clarified that while Amaechi informed regional leaders of his intent to seek the party's presidential ticket, this did not constitute an endorsement. Oboh criticized reports suggesting a unanimous decision to support Amaechi, labeling them as misleading and damaging to the democratic process.

She stressed that no formal resolution was adopted to endorse any aspirant and that the meeting was focused on maintaining unity and adherence to due process within the party. The leaders emphasized the importance of accurate representation of their discussions to avoid unnecessary tensions and erosion of confidence in institutional procedures.
