Free Hepatitis B Vaccination Program Launched in Kaduna

Senator Sundai Marshal Katung initiated a free hepatitis B vaccination program in Southern Kaduna as part of efforts to curb the spread of the disease. The first phase of the vaccination exercise commenced across four local government areas: Zangon Kataf, Kaura, Jema, and Jaba.

Vaccination centers were established at primary healthcare facilities in various locations including Zangon Urban, Manchok, Kagoro, Kwoi, and Daddu Gidan Waya. The program aims to improve healthcare and reduce the burden of viral hepatitis in the Kaduna South Senatorial District.

Katung emphasized the importance of the initiative in saving lives and protecting families, particularly children. The vaccination exercise followed a recent screening for viral hepatitis B and C conducted across the district.

The second phase of the program is scheduled to begin on July 13, 2026, and will cover the remaining four local government areas: Sanga, Kagarko, Kachia, and Kauru. Residents have expressed appreciation for the healthcare services brought closer to them.
