FG Slashes 2026 Hajj Fare, Southern Zone Gets Biggest Reduction

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a significant reduction in the 2026 Hajj fare, with the Southern Zone experiencing the biggest cut. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) initiated the fare reduction to alleviate the financial burden on pilgrims.

The fare cuts vary across different zones, with the Southern Zone seeing a reduction of over 792,000 naira. Intending pilgrims are urged to make payment by December 5, 2025, to secure slots for the 2026 pilgrimage.

The move is expected to be well-received by Nigerian Muslims concerned about the rising cost of the pilgrimage.
