Sowore Remanded in Kuje Prison, Vows to Continue Activism

Omoyele Sowore, the president of the African Action Congress, has been ordered to be remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre until Wednesday by Justice Moham Umar of the Federal High Court Abuja. This decision follows the revocation of Sowore's bail last week, which was triggered by his absence from court.

Justice Umar dismissed Sowore's application requesting the judge to step down from the case involving allegations against him related to public remarks about President Bola Tinubu. Despite his detention, Sowore remains defiant, stating that his imprisonment will not hinder his activism and that he will continue to mobilize the public.

The prosecution argued for his remand, citing the need for preparation for the upcoming court proceedings. Sowore's recent absence was attributed to legal consultations, which his new lead counsel, Olumide Fusika, formally communicated to the court.
