Sowore Faces Jail Remand Over Unmet Bail Conditions

Omoyele Sowore, a prominent activist and member of the African Action Congress, risks being remanded in Kuje Prison, Abuja, due to his inability to perfect bail conditions set by Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court. The Department of State Services (DSS) informed the court that Sowore has not fulfilled the required bail conditions, leading to a request for his remand until these conditions are met.

Sowore's lawyer, Akinlolu Kehinde, argued that the order for remand was inappropriate since the conditions had not been verified. Olumide Fusika, another member of Sowore's defense team, stated that they are working to recover necessary documents, including a passport from the American embassy.

The trial is set to continue on July 13, with Sowore's defense presenting evidence against President Bola Tinubu, including a video clip of remarks made by the president that Sowore's team claims insult citizens' rights.
