SPE Inaugurates Uyo Section 255, Urges Professionalism And Collaboration

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) inaugurated Uyo Section 255 on August 10, marking the sixth section established in Nigeria. The ceremony, held at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Ikot Ekpene, saw the new executive team led by Chairman Nkese Essien and Secretary Isemin Isemin.

SPE Council Chairperson Hajia Amina Danmadami emphasized the importance of professionalism and collaboration within the section to expand the SPE network. Keynote speaker Dr.

Riverson Oppong, SPE African Regional Director, highlighted the significance of the inauguration as a milestone achievement in advancing the profession in Nigeria. The event also received a goodwill message from SPE President Olivier Houzé, who praised the development as a testament to SPE's dynamism in Africa.

Chairman Essien pledged that the Uyo section would prioritize environmental responsibility and contribute meaningfully to energy development and community advancement.
