NCC's Zero-Rated Access Initiative for Education Gains Support

Stakeholders from various sectors have shown robust support for the Nigerian Communications Commission's (NCC) initiative to provide zero-rated access to educational platforms. This initiative, aimed at enhancing digital learning content access for students across Nigeria, was endorsed during the first public consultation forum on the proposed framework titled "Zero Rate Access to Educational Platform Content in Nigeria," held in Abuja.

Participants described the initiative as a significant step towards promoting equitable access to digital education across the country. During discussions, there was an emphasis on the importance of stronger collaboration among stakeholders to sustain investments in network expansion and infrastructure upgrades.

Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, disclosed that an industry committee would be established to carefully examine the initiative's technical, policy, regulatory, and commercial dimensions.

Ayuba Shuaibu, representing the Director of Policy and Competition in the Economic Analysis Department at the NCC, stressed the need for broad-based stakeholder participation to ensure the framework reflects industry realities and advances national educational objectives.
