Stakeholders Address Job Losses in Welding Sector at AGM!

Stakeholders in the welding sector convened at the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) in Effurun, Delta State, to address job losses and governance challenges. The AGM led to the dissolution of the executive structure and the formation of a new Caretaker Committee, headed by Solomon Edebiri, to reposition the welding profession.

The meeting aimed to resolve internal leadership disputes and revitalize the institute, which has faced governance gaps and financial mismanagement. The Interim Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Welding (NIW), Professor Shehu Abdullahi Aji, highlighted critical issues affecting the institute and called for a renewed commitment to professionalism and credibility.
