Kano PDP Announces New Consensus Leadership

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano announced its new leadership through a consensus during a state congress held on March 14, 2026. Chinw Nnoroma, the party's national public secretary, declared Engr.

Bello Gambo as the new chairman, with Rabiu Sale Wangar as the state secretary. The announcement was made by a team from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) led by Sulaiman Alkali.

Dr. Ibrahim Bala Aboki, the national youth leader and member of the national working committee, explained that the congress involved leadership elections at the ward and local government levels, resulting in 29 officers being elected based on consensus agreements.

The party's caretaker committee dismissed claims of factionalism, asserting that the PDP remains united. Key figures such as Abdurrahman Muhammad Taku and Nysom Wike were mentioned as influential in the party's success.

Dr. Aminu Abdullahi, chairman of the electoral committee, noted that the consensus is not a final decision and adjustments may be necessary.
