States in Niger Delta Region Finalize Athlete Selection for Upcoming Games

States in the Niger Delta region are in the final stages of selecting athletes for the 2nd Niger Delta Games. Athletes are undergoing trials in various cities such as Port Harcourt, Yenagoa, Calabar, Akure, Owerri, Umuahia, Asaba, and Benin City.

The trials, overseen by coaches, including Godswill Akpabio, are taking place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. Over 100 athletes are competing in events like the 100m sprint, 400m, and relays to earn spots in their state contingents.

The Niger Delta Games are scheduled to take place in Edo State from February 20 to 27, with nine states from the region expected to participate. The event is sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission and organized by Dunamis Icon Limited.
