Kukah Urges Nigerians to Embrace His Nigerian Identity

Matthew Kukah, the newly appointed chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, addressed attendees at the university's 16th convocation ceremony held on Saturday. He urged Nigerians to refrain from labeling him as a Hausa man, asserting his identity as a typical Nigerian.

Kukah, who is also the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, emphasized the importance of character and moral leadership in education. Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo expressed excitement over Kukah's appointment, highlighting his wisdom and experience, which he believes will strengthen the university's vision.

During the ceremony, Kukah encouraged graduates to become problem solvers and agents of change in society. The event also recognized academic excellence, with a cash gift awarded to Somtochukwu Augustus, the overall best graduating student, who achieved a CGPA of 4.85 out of 5.0, and scholarships offered to 37 first-class graduates for postgraduate studies.
