APC's Alli Challenges Makinde on Electricity Blame Game

Sharafadeen Alli, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, urged Governor Seyi Makinde to cease blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the failures of his administration. The APC campaign organization, through its director of Media and Publicity, Prince Bisi Oladele, expressed embarrassment over Makinde's reliance on diesel-powered generators for streetlights, attributing this to Tinubu's alleged failure to improve national electricity within his first four years.

The statement emphasized that the Electricity Act 2023, signed by President Tinubu, empowers states to manage their electricity needs. It highlighted that Oyo State had established the Oyo State Electricity Regulatory Commission and transferred regulatory oversight from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, enabling the state to attract investors and develop sustainable power solutions.

The campaign organization criticized Makinde for not leveraging these opportunities and stated that after over seven years in office, he should not blame external factors for issues within his administration's control.
