Presidency Criticizes Opposition's Claims on Electoral Act

The Nigerian Presidency, through Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, has condemned opposition parties for their continuous lamentations regarding the Electoral Act. In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, Onanuga accused notable opposition figures from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) of making "reckless" and "spurious" allegations against President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government.

He characterized these statements as irresponsible political maneuvers aimed at attracting cheap headlines and misleading the public. Onanuga urged the opposition to cease their unwarranted outrage against the Electoral Act, highlighting that the APC-led government has enacted amendments to allow real-time transmission of election results using form EC8A, which serves as a backup in case of network failures.

He dismissed the opposition's claims of creating loopholes for manipulation as illogical and unnecessary.
