APC Chieftain Urges Trump to Halt Nigeria Intelligence Sharing

Timi Frank, a former deputy national public secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), called on former U.S. President Donald Trump to suspend intelligence sharing with Nigeria.

This appeal follows Sheikh Ahmad Gumi's claims regarding the government's knowledge of bandit activities. Frank expressed concerns in a statement issued in Abuja, highlighting that the Nigerian government appears to know the identities and locations of bandits but has failed to take decisive action against them.

He criticized the ongoing attacks by armed groups and the rising insecurity despite assurances from government officials. Frank alleged that political actors may exploit the security challenges for electoral advantage ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He urged the U.S. to exercise caution in its dealings with the current Nigerian administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing the need for stronger actions against terrorist groups operating in Nigeria. Frank's remarks reflect a broader concern about the effectiveness of Nigeria's security strategies and the implications for international cooperation.
