Oyedepo Warns Nigerian Youths Against Sports Betting

David Oyedepo, the Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, delivered a sermon on Sunday urging young Nigerians to avoid sports betting, which he described as an unreliable means to wealth and lasting success. He warned that gambling could jeopardize their futures and emphasized that true prosperity comes from discipline, patience, and hard work.

Oyedepo repeatedly cautioned, “Stop wasting your destiny,” and advised youths against seeking quick riches through betting. He reassured them that while success may take time, it is ultimately achievable when built on a solid foundation.

Additionally, he shared a personal anecdote about a woman who introduced him to Christianity at age 15, whom he later gifted a car as a token of gratitude when he turned 60. Oyedepo's remarks come amid growing concerns from religious leaders and social commentators regarding the rise of sports betting in Nigeria and its potential to lead young people into financial difficulties and addiction.
