Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Pregnant Girlfriend

Samson Ekata, a 40-year-old man, was arrested by the Edo State Police Command for the alleged murder of his eight-month-pregnant girlfriend in Uromi. Ekata claimed that strange voices instructed him to kill her, a command he initially resisted due to her pregnancy.
However, he acted on the instruction after experiencing a similar directive in a dream two weeks later. He reportedly lived with the deceased for about a year before the incident, during which he allegedly killed her, mutilated her body, and attempted to remove her unborn baby.
Ekata admitted to severing one of the victim’s breasts, claiming a spirit had directed him to do so. He transported her body in a Toyota Corolla and dumped it by the roadside.
The Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, described the killing as horrific and commended the community for their assistance in the arrest. He assured that Ekata would face the full weight of the law and urged residents to provide information to help curb crime.
