Olopade Supports Team Nigeria at World Athletics Relays

Bukola Olopade, the Director General of the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC), has arrived in Gaborone, Botswana, to provide moral support to Team Nigeria as they prepare for the 2026 World Athletics Relays, which will commence on May 1. The Nigerian contingent is reported to be in high spirits and fully prepared to compete in six relay events.

The primary objectives for Nigeria include securing qualification slots for two major global competitions: the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing and the 2026 World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest. Notably, sprint star Ash is set to compete in the men's 4x100m relay and the mixed 4x100m relay, continuing Nigeria's legacy of elite sprinters who have broken the 10-second barrier in the 100 meters.

The support from key sports administrators, including Solomon Ogba, Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, and Tonobok Okowa, President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, is crucial for the team's success.
