Strike: ASUU mobilizes members for nationwide rally on Tuesday

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced plans to mobilize its members for a nationwide rally on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. The Federal University Zonal Coordinator, Adeola Oyebisi Egbedokun, stated during a press conference that the demonstration aims to pressure the federal government to address the union's demands.

This rally is described as ASUU's first decisive response to the government's continued inaction, with warnings of further action if concerns are not addressed. The protest will take place simultaneously across universities, leading to the suspension of academic activities.

ASUU's National Executive Council has given the government until August 28 to respond to their demands, after which the union will determine its next course of action. Egbedokun emphasized that if the government continues to neglect their concerns, universities will face consequences.
