ASUU To Hold Nationwide Rally Tuesday

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced plans to hold a nationwide rally on Tuesday, August 25, 2025, to increase pressure on the Federal Government to address ongoing issues within the university system. Zonal Coordinator Adeola Oyebisi Egbedokun revealed this during a press briefing at the Federal University, stating that the rally is a response to unresolved disputes between lecturers and the government.

Egbedokun described the protest as ASUU's first major action in recent years and warned that it could be a prelude to tougher measures if the government continues to ignore their demands. The rally will be held simultaneously across public universities, with academic activities suspended for the day.

ASUU's National Executive Council has given the government until August 28 to address their concerns, after which they will decide on the next course of action. Egbedokun cautioned that if the government does not take action, universities must be prepared to face the consequences.
