FCT Workers Instructed to Strike Over Grievances

The Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) directed workers to remain at home following a strike declaration by union president Comrad Rifkatu Iortyer. The strike, starting on January 19, 2026, is in response to a range of issues such as financial malfeasance, delayed promotions, poor working conditions, and lack of training.

Grievances include non-remittance of pension and National Housing Fund deductions, as well as demands for the removal of certain officials. The union accuses the FCT administration of breaching trust and failing to address multiple unresolved issues.
