Minister Nyesom Wike Warns FCTA Workers of Sanctions for Strike Disruption

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, issued a stern warning to FCTA workers to end their strike and return to work to avoid legal sanctions. The strike, which disrupted public services in Abuja, was allegedly hijacked by politicians for personal gain, despite ongoing efforts by the administration to address worker demands through dialogue and mediation.

Wike highlighted the administration's commitment to staff welfare, citing a recent approval of ₦12 billion for January salaries as evidence. He urged workers to recognize the reforms being implemented, including efforts to improve revenue generation and efficiency within the public service.

Wike warned against further disruptions and threatened severe sanctions for those impeding government activities. He emphasized the importance of workers complying with court orders and engaging with the government to resolve disputes.

The FCTA aims to restore full public services in the nation's capital.
