Tributes Flow for Dr. Bashir Ashara, Journalism Scholar

Dr. Bashir Hadi Ashara, a distinguished journalism scholar and former head of the Mass Communication Department at Kaduna State Polytechnic, died on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

His passing has elicited significant mourning within the academic and media communities. Colleagues and students remember him for his exceptional ability to simplify complex journalistic concepts, making learning accessible for aspiring journalists.

Abdulgafar Alabelew, chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council, praised Ashara for his mentorship and contributions to journalism education. Adamu Abdullahi, the NUJ Kaduna State Council secretary, described the news of Ashara's death as devastating, recalling him as a good man and a dedicated lecturer.
