Student Groups Urge Expansion of E-DON Initiative Nationwide

On September 22, 2026, the National Association of University Students (NAUS), National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES), and National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) held a joint press conference in Abuja to commend the Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON). Dr. Meshach Anthony Nwankwo, President of NAUS, described E-DON as a significant advancement in Nigeria's education sector, capable of enhancing digital teaching and fostering global education partnerships through virtual classrooms.
He acknowledged the support of Dr. Angela Ajala, Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and other stakeholders in implementing E-DON across Colleges of Education. The student bodies called for the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Committee of Vice Chancellors to adopt E-DON in universities and for the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to extend it to polytechnics.
They proposed that E-DON be implemented in at least one lecture hall per department in every tertiary institution to improve access to digital education and reduce reliance on traditional learning methods. The initiative promotes indigenous educational technology and interactive learning solutions.
