Suleiman and Inusa Win at Kano Golf Tournament

Abba Suleiman of Katsina Golf Club emerged as the overall winner in Category One at the 2026 Kano Golf Club Captain’s Inaugural Tournament, held on Saturday, July 25, at the Kano Golf Club. Suleiman, with a 6.9 handicap, recorded the best net score of 68 in the 18-hole event for male golfers with handicaps between 0 and 9.

Audu Zaria from Zaria Golf Club was the runner-up with a net score of 73, while Salmanu Dalha of Katsina Golf Club achieved the best gross score of 76. In the ladies’ competition, Rahama Inusa of Kano Golf Club won with a net score of 68.

Inusa, a 13-handicap golfer, previously won a gold medal at the 22nd National Sports Festival in May 2025. Lucy Monday of Zaria Golf Club finished second with a net score of 80.

Pastor Francis Bitrus of the Golf Club of the Nigerian Air Force Kano Base posted the best overall net score of 64 in the Men’s Category Three event. The tournament concluded with an exhibition match and a prize presentation attended by notable dignitaries, including former Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Tukur Jikamsh, and others.
